I have to reply to this for other unaware users or potencial users! ok, in this day and age of digital production we're about to leave analoque recording and alot of people if not almost everyone, exept for a handfull of bands can afford to have studio time in one of the big studio's that are still left. that said ,I think every one understands this is a thing these days, plugins are soo good, Waves is selling hot cakes and there is choice in different DAW's expensive ones like Pro tools and cheaper ones that do the same but are cheaper like Sonar (platinum) and Reaper etc. So I bought the Sonar Platunum edition back in december 2016 out of financial reasons I choose a cheaper DAW like Sonar by Cakewalk knowing that the Midi section would be very good because of Cakewalks background.I bought it together with the ''Life Time Upgrade'' Dlc which was also a few hondred , So I already spend alot of money on aDAW that I needed to learn still but how was I going to know that this was a Scam... A year later during the Holidays in december steam had again big discounts on all Sonar products everything from 50 up to 60% people buying Sonar platinum + life time upgrades pay same price as Sonar platinum on full price!!So a few weeks pass by and All of a sudden Gibson drops Sonar like a brick and tells people that all support and updates will be cancled , Now Imagine how people felt who just very very recently bought Sonar Platinum with 'life time updates'' spending a few hundred on a DAW and additional dlc content, and a brand like Gibson drop it like a brick just like nothing. The thing that bothers me is the fact that a company like Gibson has a team that is analizing their sales all year and will inform the company when they should take a different route, BUT they had to sell the software during the holidays! For this I will never buy a Gibson product again! So all of a sudden a company like bandlab is buying parts of Sonar as they described and are giving it away for free?! are people this unaware or even stupid?!In this day and age where digital recording is the means of getting music out?! IMO Gibson is still behind this, like they wouldn't know this or give a damn.. I think they had this planned all along! Now I'm not going to change DAW because of this, I like Sonar Platinum as is was and I refuse to use Bandlab products because of what happend. I learned to work with Sonar and that that, now if I knew all this before this Scam, I would definately choose another DAW! Cubase probably or reaper, and I really hope Sonar by Bandlab will not achieve what they are aiming at, Alot of users that are starting with Sonar will have to choose eventually if they want to buy upgrades to have the newest Sonar, It's a dirty trick...You learn to work with a DAW and they let you pay! Remember NOTHING comes for free in the world, anyone says different they should go to the doctor. Succes in choosing your DAW!
